OFF-ROAD
Ford Bronco

You’re right at home out on the trails, and so are the Ford Bronco and the Subaru Forester. They’re designed to take on the toughest trails and take you way off the map. There’s only one, however, that comes with a superior set of all-terrain skills. Which one could it be?

4-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive?

The two driving systems are similar in many ways, and while the Subaru Forester comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the Ford Bronco comes standard with a part-time selectable engagement 4-wheel drive system. That begs the question: Which one is superior on the trails?

When it comes to off-roading, 4-wheel drive reigns supreme. It sends the same amount of torque to all four wheels, locking in power so you can topple the toughest obstacles. All-wheel drive, on the other hand, uses a computer system to adjust the torque to each individual wheel, which is better suited for man-made roads.

In Total Control

The Ford Bronco is available with several trail-tuned features to keep you in total control out on any off-road path. Trail Control™ is one system you’ll only get with the Bronco. This low-speed cruise control controls the throttle and braking to keep you moving at a consistent speed so you can focus on charting the trail ahead.

PERFORMANCE
Ford Bronco

At the heart of every off-road SUV is a powerful engine that can take you anywhere you want to go. Whether you’re bowling over obstacles out on the trails or hauling your travel trailer out to a remote campsite, you’ll want a strong engine you can rely on. That’s where the Ford Bronco thrives.

Powering Up

The Subaru Forester comes with a capable 2.5L SUBARU BOXER® engine that kicks out 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The Bronco ups the ante. It comes standard with a 2.3L EcoBoost® engine that pumps out up to 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque.

If you’re looking to upgrade your SUV’s output, only the Ford Bronco gives you that ability with two available engines. The available 2.7L EcoBoost® is capable of up to 330 horsepower, while the 3.0L EcoBoost® cranks out a whopping 418 horsepower.

Towing Out

That extra oomph also makes the 2023 Ford Bronco a more capable towing vehicle. The Subaru Forester has a maximum towing capacity of 3,000 pounds, while the Bronco can manage a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds.

UTILITY
Ford Bronco

One of the most important aspects of any SUV—especially one that thrives off-road—is practicality. Whether you’re packing up your camping supplies or pulling your friend’s less-capable SUV out of the mud, utility is pivotal.

Load Up Your Cargo

Backpack? Check. Hiking boots? Check. Extra provisions? Check. As you’re packing up for your next adventure, you’ll have plenty of room in either SUV. The Subaru Forester boasts a cavernous 74.2 cubic feet of storage space, while the Ford Bronco provides even more room with up to 77.6 cubic feet of cargo room.

Off-Road Tools

When it comes to off-road utility, the Ford Bronco has it in spades. Its available heavy-duty modular front bumper can be armed with a bevy of off-road equipment, including a safari bar, pod lights, and even a trailblazing brush guard. A WARN® Bronco Winch Kit is also available, so you can yank your pal’s Subaru Forester out of the mud on your next journey.

A snorkel system is also available on certain Bronco trims. It raises the engine’s air intake, so it can enjoy fresh air even in extremely dusty conditions or when you’re fording through a deep stream.
